Sheriff: Weekend checkpoints in Florence Co. a success

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A traffic safety checkpoint over the weekend in Florence County brought in a handful of arrest, boasts Sheriff Kenney Boone.

On Friday, Feb. 8, the Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement Network set up their traffic stops at two locations in Florence County - Freedom Boulevard and Wallace Road and the intersection of National Cemetery Road and Francis Marion Road.

They were selected because of a high incidence of motor vehicle accidents and moving violations in the past. The following violations were noted:

Driving Under the Influence - 4

Open Container - 2

Driving Under Suspension - 3

Driver's License Violation - 2

Child Restraint Violation - 1

Turning Unlawfully - 3

Possession of Marijuana - 3

Possession of Heroin - 1

Other Traffic Violations - 3

Other Criminal Violations - 1

The Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement Network is comprised of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties. Its sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety for the detection of impaired drivers and motor vehicle violations.
