MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A mall employee is facing charges after an investigation determined she was creating false transactions and profiting the cash for herself.
The incident report filed on Friday, Feb. 8 states an employee for JC Penney in Coastal Grand Mall was detained by her employer for possible theft. An investigation by JC Penney Loss Prevention determined someone was processing fake returns and keeping the cash for themselves.

The report also states surveillance video observes the processing of those fake transactions, which totaled $546.34.
The employee, 51-year-old Sonya Jean Leftridge, turned herself into the police department Sunday to face charges for breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
