GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies
arrested as 29-year-old man after he led them on a vehicle pursuit, abandoned
his vehicle, and was located at his address Thursday.
Deputies were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person walking
through yards near the 1800 block of Pickens Street in the Kensington
Community, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's
Office.
While deputies were canvassing the area, they saw a vehicle
matching the description of the suspect's, later identified as Jerrod Trappier,
and tried to pull him over, officials stated. The suspect tossed something from
the window, and then led deputies on a pursuit from Summit Avenue through the
city limits, before abandoning the vehicle on Sorrel Street, the release
stated. Deputies put the abandoned vehicle in park and searched the area, but
were unable to locate him.
According to the release, inside the vehicle, deputies found
items belonging to the suspect, as well as information on the car's owner. They
went to the owner's address, where they overheard three men talking about
fleeing from the deputies, the release states.
Once deputies covered all exits to the home, they knocked on
the door and asked for the men to identify themselves.
"When confronted with the overheard information, Jerrod Trappier
admitted being the driver of the vehicle," the release states.
Trappier was charged with failure to stop for blue
lights, driving under suspension, and possession of marijuana. He is now
awaiting a bond hearing at Georgetown County Detention.
