LAKE
CITY, SC (WMBF) – Seven spectators were arrested after a fight broke out during
a basketball game at Lake City High School Wednesday night, according to
officials.
All
seven were between the ages of 18 and 20 and face charges of disturbing schools,
Lake City Police officials said. The Lake City School boys varsity basketball
team was playing Kingstree when the fight broke out. No weapons were found in
the incident.
The
fight caused the game to be stopped with 2:01 left on the clock, with Lake City
leading Kingstree 52-42, said Florence School District 3 spokesperson Brian
Huckabee.
On
Thursday, the teams met again to finish the remaining two minutes; the game was
closed to everyone except players, coaches and officials, Huckabee said. Lake City won 63-42.
Lake
City Police Chief Billy Drown said all seven suspects were released on bond at
about 4:30 p.m Thursday.
Police said
they are reviewing surveillance video from gymnasium cameras to see if anyone
else was involved.
The
cause of the fight in under investigation, officials said.
