GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - A tip led deputies in Georgetown County to arrest a burglary suspect they were looking for, and after they got him behind bars police in Pawleys Island were able to close a few cases of their own.
Charles Aaron Cribb Jr. was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center on Feb. 7 in connection to a burglary in the Browns Ferry community.
Georgetown County Sheriff's Office spokesman Carrie Cuthbertson says the home in question on Francis Marion Drive was burglarized on Jan. 18 when a Cribb allegedly forced entry and stole furniture and appliances.
Thanks to a tip into the sheriff's office that those items were resold, deputies arrested Cribb and charged him with burglary.
But once he was behind bars, the Pawleys Island Police Department became to look at him as a possible suspect in the five burglary reported on the morning of Jan. 30 because his mother's car was spotted in the area.
Police served warrants on Cribb while still in custody, charging him with the five additional burglaries, and Police Chief Michael Fanning adds that more charges are possible.
