2 Horry Co. buses involved in crashes

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - First responders have cleared the scene of two separate accidents involving Horry County Schools buses Thursday afternoon.

Conway Police Department spokeswoman Catina Hipp confirms there has been a school bus accident at the intersection of Church Street and Ninth Avenue.

As crews work to clear the scene they advise that one northbound lane of Highway 501, or Church Street, has been shut down. It is expected to reopen by 4 p.m.

Horry County Schools spokeswoman Teal Britton the bus, which was traveling from Conway Elementary School, was hit in the side by a car around 3:10 p.m.

There were 12 students on board. None of them were injured.

According to Britton, another school bus was involved in a crash on Highway 544 in Socastee near the McDonald's around 2:15 p.m. There were no students on the bus when it was struck and no injuries have been reported.

Both accidents were cleared by 4:20 p.m.
