MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - We hope you enjoyed those clear skies, because soaking rain is on the way.

Thursday will bring about some significant changes to the forecast, says Storm Team Meteorologist Jamie Arnold. A storm system developing in the Gulf of Mexico turn northeast and ride up the Carolina Coastline late Thursday and Thursday night.

Scattered showers will start to move into the region by lunchtime on Thursday. By the evening, a steady, soaking rain will arrive.

Some heavy rain is likely by Thursday night and rainfall totals of one to three inches are likely. Highs will be in the upper 50s to near 60. The rain will quickly end Friday morning with clearing skies lasting into the weekend.
