No suspects named in suspicious car fire

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are investigating after a women's car was set aflame outside her home in the middle of the night.

That woman lives in the Browns Mobile Home Park on Highway 15. Firemen responded to douse the flames that engulfed her vehicle early Tuesday morning when a neighbor noticed the fire.

That neighbor claims she spotted a suspicious car in the neighborhood which almost struck her while she was walking her dog. The two females and male in the car said they were coming to pick up two other guys, according to the Myrtle Beach Police report.

Two males quickly jumped in the car and it sped away through a convenience store's parking lot. That's when the neighbor saw the car fire. The report states she and her husband followed the car for a short distance before losing sight of it.

The woman who owns the burning car was alerted by her son and his friend that it was in flames. They attempted to extinguish it with a garden hose, but it broke.

Firemen on scene called police about the suspicious circumstances, who discovered the victim's son lit a Molotov Cocktail in the front yard earlier in the day, possibly explaining why he and his friend were uncooperative with their investigation.

No suspects or motives have been uncovered in the investigation of this suspicious fire. Anyone with information is asked to call Myrtle Beach Police.
