Celebrate Mardis Gras by adopting a new, furry friend

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - On Sunday, Feb. 24, Friends of Horry County Animal Care Center is hosting a Mardis Gras-theme benefit event where various dogs and cats will be available for adoption.

This special adopt-a-thon will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The X Sports Complex, 568 George Bishop Parkway, in Myrtle Beach. In addition to adoptable pets, there will be music, face painting, contests, demonstrations, various vendors, and prizes throughout the day. Mardis Gras-style cuisine will be available inside for purchase as well as fresh-grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.

Adoption fees vary based on the animal.

Proceeds will benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society, Canine Angels, Keep Our Pets Food Bank, Castaway Paws Rescue, and Friends of HCACC.

There are still several vendor slots available for the event. If you would like to rent a booth, please contact Debbie McAvey at (843) 712-0619. The booths are 8 by 10 in size, and the cost to rent is $25 for the day.
