Phone tracker leads to 2 armed robbery arrests

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Two men are facing charges from purportedly robbing a woman at gunpoint in Myrtle Beach.

According to the female victim, she was near her car on Dick Pond Road Sunday night when a man emerged from the wooded are with a black handgun, grabbing her purse and attempting to force her into her car.

She says that man even grabbed a chunk of hair from her head.

Using a tracking device, police were able to detect the location of the Apple iPhone that was in the woman's purse to the "Rittenhouse area," where they made contact with a possible suspect.

That man was searched and ruled out as a the culprit, but once locating the phone, officers realized that man sold the phone to another individual

Quentin Jamal Johnson, 18, and 21-year-old Mitchell Durgin are charged with common law robbery and armed robbery in connection with this crime.

The phone was returned to its owner.
