Fatal crash victim identified as elderly Kingstree man

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol are expecting to press charges in the fatal crash in Florence County Saturday that killed an elderly Kingstree man.

That crash occurred on West Palmetto Street at Sallyhill Road around 3:21 p.m. Saturday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol's website.

According to SCHP officials, a man was driving west on Highway 76 when he was struck by an eastbound car that crossed the center line and hit him head on.

Florence County Coroner Keith vonLutcken identified the victim as 89-year-old Mackrey Brown of Kingstree. Brown died from multiple blunt force trauma.

At this time, charges are pending against the other driver, who was transported to Mcleod Hospital with injuries.
