HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One man is dead and two are injured after a crash in the Conway area Friday night.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2001 BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling north on Carolina Lakes Boulevard near Blackstone Street around 2:35 a.m.

The driver lost control, leaving the right side of the road, rolling the car and striking a power pole's guide wire and a tree. The two passengers in the car were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, highway patrol officials said.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Phillip Burnett of Myrtle Beach, was pronounced dead on the scene, says Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

Though the details of the crash have been uncovered, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused the driver to lose control.
