Georgetown deputies assist vehicle pursuit with stop sticks

GEORGETOWN, SC – Three men are in custody after Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies deployed stop sticks to stop a van allegedly carrying stolen motorcycles as it crossed the county line early Monday morning, officials state.

At about 4 a.m. Monday, Mt. Pleasant Police Department requested help in a vehicle pursuit from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office by dispatch, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Charleston County Deputies were pursuing a van heading north of Highway 17, which was carrying two stolen motorcycles, the news release states. Just inside the Georgetown County line, between the North and South Santee Rivers, deputies deployed stop sticks, which punctured the right front tire of the van on contact.

The van came to a stop in the median, three suspects exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area, the release states. Deputies from both counties pursued and apprehended the suspects without incident.

Georgetown residents Lamont Orange Deas, 34, Brandon Priest, 29, and Adrian Marcus Robinson, 21 were turned over to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
