MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Conway Bypass was closed for several hours at the intersection with Highway 701, north of Conway, after a traffic accident involving a tractor-trailer and another vehicle Tuesday morning.
According to State Troopers at the scene, the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on SC 22 when another vehicle came onto the roadway, via the exit ramp, traveling the wrong way, and the vehicles collided. Both drivers were transported to nearby hospitals, and officials confirmed that this was not a fatal accident.
Highway Patrol, Horry County fire and Rescue, and officials from the Department of Transportation responded to the scene, and it took several hours to completely clear the road and reopen all lanes to traffic.
No information on the condition of either driver was available.
