MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The fourth phase in the replacement of a sewer line in the median of US 17, from 79th Avenue North to the southern edge of Restaurant Row, began Monday.

Construction work on the $2 million portion of sewer line will occur at night from Sunday through Thursday to minimize traffic interruptions, city officials stated in a news release. During the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., drivers should expect inside lane closures on US 17 (the "bypass").

The project involves replacing a 30-year-old, 30-inch sewer line that runs along the highways western right-of-way with a 36-inch diameter sewer lines in the median of US 17, officials stated. Work on this phase will be complete in the spring, with two future phases to come.
