2 checkpoints in Florence County net dozens of violations

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The results are out for two Traffic Safety Checkpoints conducted at two intersections with a high number of traffic accidents in Florence County.

On January 11 of this year, the Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement network conducted the checkpoints at the intersection of East national Cemetery Road and South McCurdy Road, and the intersection of Freedom Boulevard and Rowland McLaughlin Boulevard, according to a news release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

While the checkpoints where active, law enforcement officials cited drivers for the following violations, according to the release:

Driving Under the Influence - 2

Open Container - 2

Vehicle License Violations - 3

Improper Passing - 1

Turning Unlawfully - 1

Driving Under Suspension - 6

Driver's License Violation - 4

Child Restraint Violation - 3

Possession of Marijuana - 2

Other violations - 1

The Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement network is comprised of law enforcement agencies in both Florence and Marion Counties, and is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, officials stated.
