FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Residents in a Florence home that caught fire Friday evening were able to get out safely after being alerted by smoke detectors, officials stated in a news release.
Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at the 2700 block of Carriage Lane at about 8 p.m. Friday, the release stated.
Crews worked for about an hour and a half to control the fire, which was concentrated in the rear of the building, the release stated. The FFD's three engine companies, one ladder company, and four staff vehicles were assisted on scene by an engine company and manpower from the Howe Springs Fire Department. Florence Police and Florence County EMS were also on scene.
The fire appeared to have started in the rear outside porch, and the cause is undetermined at this time, officials stated. The house sustained heavy damage, but no injuries were reported.
