CONWAY – A prescribed burn is taking place outside Conway Thursday, confirmed officials with the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
The burn is taking place behind the Solid Waste Authority facility, located at 1886 Highway 90, stated Scott Hawkins with the SCFC. This is a "hazard mitigation burn," he states, which will decrease the fuel load and severity of a future wildfire in the area.
Residents in the area may see smoke, he stated.
