FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A correctional officer working in the Florence County Detention Center found himself in handcuffs Friday, being booked by his own coworkers.

Lake City resident Jacob Junior Speights was employed as a correctional officer at the Florence County Detention Center until Friday when he was terminated.

Speights was fired after his arrest for misconduct in office, which the Florence County Sheriff's Office says stems from allegations that he assaulted an inmate.

Speights was taken into custody around 11:25 a.m. Friday morning and released from the prison just 24 minutes later on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.

The sheriff's office did not release any details concerning the identity of the inmate that was assaulted or his current condition.
