Deputies arrest wanted teen driving golf cart on Hwy 17

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – A 19-year-old man who eluded sheriff's deputies who were looking for him Tuesday was found driving on Highway 17 in a golf cart at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning and was arrested.

Andrew Tucker Wesley was wanted in connection with an incident on Tuesday where he eluded deputies that were looking for him due to probate pick-up papers, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Witnesses reported he may have had a gun.

At about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies on patrol on Highway 17 in Murrells Inlet passed a golf cart without headlights on that was heading south, the release states. Deputies stopped the cart and recognized Wesley. He initially gave false information to the deputies, then confirmed his identity. He was arrested for False Information to a Police Officer and Golf Cart Violation, No Permit.

Wesley was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing, officials state.
