MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A fire that broke out at a house on 7th Avenue near Ocean Boulevard was under control within 10 minutes, and one person escaped from the home, fire officials confirmed.
WMBF News reporter Lauren Weppler was on the scene before fire departments could arrive and snapped photos of the fire, which started at about 7:10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
One man escaped from the home with cuts and burns to his back, Weppler said.
Three fire trucks and an EMT unit arrived at the scene.
The fire was accidentally caused by discarded smoking material, Lt. Sliker of the Myrtle Beach Fire Department said.
Despite the efforts by the Myrtle Beach Police Department, the building was left heavily damaged by the fire.
