GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - Thanks to a handful of Georgetown County sheriff's deputies, two of the four people believed to have shoplifted from Walmart are behind bars.
The shoplifting at the Walmart in Georgetown was reported on Saturday, Jan. 12 around 4:40 a.m. After deputies learned the black Dodge Avenger that fled the scene was Kensington area of North Frasier Street, they responded to track down those suspects.
After spotting the vehicle, deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver turned into a parking lot and sped toward the Tractor Supply, crashing into the building head on.
Four suspects fled the car into the woods. Two of the suspects, 23-year-old Christopher McWhite and 27-year-old James Gamble of Fayetteville, were captured and charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest.
The other two suspects remain on the loose. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at 843-545-4300.
