HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Monday marks one month since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that killed 20 students and 6 teachers.
Horry County School District leaders are working to better protect your children. In fact, this issue is being pushed to the top of their to-do list.
This will the first time the school board has met this year. Newly elected Horry County School Board Chair Joe DeFeo says there are still too many questions left unanswered when it comes to better protection from a crazed gunman.
The school board will look into what's being done to protect classrooms around the district now, and if more can or should be done for your child.
They'll consider a variety of options from more school resource officers, to a better reporting system for incidents.
