FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Police believe the 40 year old woman set fire to her boyfriend's apartment following a fight early Friday morning.
Florence City Police arrested Treaver Denise Johnson Sunday afternoon. Johnson is facing charges for Arson in the 3rd degree as well as 9 counts of attempted murder. Those murder charges stem from the fact that 9 people, including 3 children, were inside the home when she allegedly lit the fire.
Florence police say officers responding to a domestic dispute call found the house burning when they got there. They believe Johnson got into a fight with her boyfriend who lives in the duplex house on Warley Street.
According to Major Carols Raines with Florence Police Department, the tenant kicked Johnson out of the building, but she didn't leave.
She allegedly broke the window to his apartment and set a couch on fire that was sitting outside on the front porch. Police say the fire spread quickly, and Johnson's boyfriend saw the flames, running to wake up the family that lived on the other side of the building.
Everyone was able to get out safely, but the building was completely destroyed.
