ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - After making three arrests, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office continues to hunt for suspects after reporting a second homicides within a week.
Interim Chief of Detectives Capt. Anthony Thompson says the first occurred on Friday, Jan 4 on Dallas Road in Lumberton.
The victim, 31-year-old Ernst Rajkumar of North Miami, was found in a ditch with a fatal gunshot wound. This fatal shooting remains under investigation with no named suspects.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, two males were found shot in the middle of Rice Road in Lumberton around 9:27 p.m. One of the victims, 18-year-old Lamont Lyles, was killed in the shooting. The other shooting victim is still recovering from his injuries.
Three suspects - 18-year old Justin Stephens, 20-year-old Reginald Holloman and 19-year-old Joshua Stephens - were arrested in connection with that slaying. They have each been charged with murder, attempted murder and felony conspiracy.
Though investigators know the three suspects and the two victims were riding in a car together at the time, a motive has not yet been determined.
