Driver in custody after police chase

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One man is in custody after leading Horry County Police on a chase throughout the county on Thursday.

The chase began on Hwy. 378 when a detective tried to stop the driver who is suspected of robbing two men over the holidays, according to the Horry County Police Department. From Hwy. 378, the chase moved to Kates Bay Highway and ended on Liz Lane in Conway.

The suspect swallowed illegal drugs during the chase and was taken to Conway Medical Center to be checked out, Horry County Police said. No other injuries resulted in the chase.

The suspect, 31-year-old George Everett Gray, is charged with resisting arrest, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, driving under suspension and failure to stop for blue lights.
