FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Nearly three months after police released a sketch of a possible suspect in the Jan.6, 2013 slaying on Brittany Drive in Florence County, authorities have placed two men behind bars.

Police believe those men - 26-year-old Christopher Mayhue Peterson of Timmonsville and 27-year-old Reginald Daniel Johnson of Florence - entered the home on Brittany Drive at 8:45 p.m. that day with the intent to rob the people inside, but shot them during the struggle.

One of the male victims, 31-year-old Luther Sherrod Lisbon, was pronounced dead in the emergency room by Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken. The other victim was hospitalized and recovered from their wounds.

"It was pretty terrifying, it was shocking," says Amber Murphy, a neighbor in the area that watched as police taped off the area outside of her apartment.

The people living in the quiet area thought it was an accident, but it was actually a murder scene.

"We saw the blue lights and heard the sirens," says Murphy.

"There were about three ambulances, about five cop cars, people standing all over," agrees neighbor Anthony Bell.

Thanks to witness reports, police are on the hunt for the two suspects after a canine team called to scent failed to locate any leads.

"All night there were a lot of people scattered around the area, a lot of people coming and going, a lot of crime scene tape, picture taking...a lot of dog barking," says Bell.

Witnesses describe the suspects as black males, one wearing a white shirt. The other suspect was reported to be wearing dark clothing. With witness accounts, SLED forensic artists were able to create sketches and release those within two weeks of the violent shooting.

Now both of the suspects are behind bars. Christopher Peterson and Reginald Johnson have each been charged with murder and attempted murder.

Peterson was in custody for another shooting when those charges were brought against him. Johnson was arrested in a traffic stop in Florence.

"Our Investigators relentlessly investigated this case and followed every lead that came their way," Sheriff Kenney Boone stated. "They never gave up, and their hard work and persistence has paid off. We also wish to thank SLED for its assistance."
