Loris shooting death investigation

LORIS, SC (WMBF) Police in Loris are investigating a shooting that resulted in one person's death Friday.

Police responded to the scene after a family member called claiming a man was shot inside of a home on Flag Patch Road.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as 46-year-old Dan Rouse, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler. Rouse was from the Flag Patch community near Loris where he was murdered, Deputy Fowler said.

At this time, it appears the shooting is related to a domestic related shooting in Columbus County, North Carolina, according to SGT. Robert Kegler of the Horry County Police Department.

Family and friends of Rouse told WMBF News that he was good to his community.

"He was the type if he could help you, he would help you in any kind of way, any hour of the night whatever your situation, he would be there for you," a friend of Rouse's, Carla Dixon, said. "He was a good person he was like a son to me."

This shooting is currently being investigated as a homicide. At this time, police have decided not to release the name of the suspect.

An autopsy is scheduled for Rouse on Saturday morning.
