SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A joint
investigation by the Horry County Police Department and Surfside Beach Police
has landed one man behind bars.
Surfside Beach Chief of Police
Rodney Keziah says it was a domestic dispute call that sent Horry County Police
officers to a home on Glenn's Bay Road Thursday morning.
But the suspect had already fled the
scene. By tracing the number the distress call was made from investigators
located the man in Surfside Beach.
In that home, police discovered the
man had forced his way inside by breaking a door because "we were having a party," the man said in the incident report.
The suspect, 41-year-old Raymond Azar, was found hiding under another
home nearby. He was arrested and charged with burglary, petit larceny, and malicious damage
to property.
The incident report states the
damage to the door will cost nearly $1,000 to repair. Police also found two bags of frozen french fries and two bottles of microbrew beer bottles that were consumed, valued at a total of $15.
He is being held on a $14,260 bond for
the Surfside Beach charges, and will face charges from Horry County Police for
the initial incident.
