Man assaulted outside Myrtle Beach restaurant

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)-  Myrtle Beach Police are looking for any leads in an assault and armed robbery that happened Saturday, Dec. 29 around 8:30 p.m.

According to an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Matt Collins, age 19, was in the Caprzi restaurant parking lot waiting for his girlfriend to get off work when a group of 6-7 men approached the car. One suspect opened the door and said to Collins, " Are you the one who hit my brother?"

Collins said he looked out the window and was punched in the face by that suspect and later kicked in the arm by another.

Reportedly the same suspect who punched Collins, got in the car, demanded money and held him at gunpoint. Collins gave the suspect his wallet but it was given back because it didn't have any money in it. The suspect then continued to look through the console of the car while another one of the men looked in the glove box.

Collins said the suspects ran away in front of the restaurant towards the movie theater. He suffered swelling and cuts to his mouth and a scuff mark on his sleeve from where he'd been kicked. Collins did not go to the hospital.

The restaurant manager has stated that video surveillance would be given to the police.

The victims girlfriend has given police consent to search her car. Police are still investigating this incident. If you have any information please call Myrtle Beach Police Department at (843) 918-1300.
