BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested 30-year-old Justin C. Brueger Wednesday, in the shooting death of his son.
According to LT. Larry Turner with Bennettsville Police, authorities were called to a home on Sunday, Dec. 30 around 8:26 p.m. after a 911 call was made to report a child had been shot. SLED confirmed that Justin Brueger was cleaning his rifle when he accidentally shot and killed Easton Brueger, his 8-year-old son.
According to Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown, Easton Brueger was taken to Marlboro Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Easton Brueger is originally from Clio, SC, and was in Bennettsville visiting his father.
Justin Brueger will be charged with one count of Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child, a felony with penalties of no more than 10 years if convicted.
