MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man is behind bars after police saw him allegedly beating an ex-flame in the home he now shares with a new love.
It was just after 2:30 a.m. Friday when a woman on the 1300 block of Dunbar Street noticed a disturbance at her neighbor's house and called police, the incident report states.
When police arrived they found 22-year-old Sato Jewel Bethea "on top of the victim pushing her head down into the ground."
The physical fight, the report states was sparked when the female victim, who shares a child with Bethea, came over and went inside to meet his new girlfriend.
Bethea allegedly pushed the victim around, and at one point grabbed her by the neck, lifting her off the ground.
Bethea's new girlfriend, who was in the home and witnessed the assault, says the victim invited herself over, and after shoving Bethea, "that's when things got hot and they just started goin at it."
Police on the scene asked Bethea to stick around but moments later he took off running. The report states that police were able to take Bethea into custody after he tripped over a barrel of cinder blocks in his neighbor's backyard.
Bethea was not wearing a shirt at the time and was injured when he fell but refused medical treatment. The victim had several defensive injuries and was bleeding from the mouth, but also refused to be treated.
Bethea has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and resisting arrest.
