Chad Weatherford of Loris, South Carolina is riding high following last night's season ending episode of the "Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge." Airing on Outdoor Channel, the final episode of the nationally televised series featured Weatherford besting the competition to take the Total Outdoorsman title and the $50,000 first-place prize purse. The "Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge" is an original reality program, co-hosted by country music star Craig Morgan and Field & Stream Editor-at-Large T. Edward Nickens, following the tough, competitive road to the naming of the Total Outdoorsman champion.
Now in its ninth year as a nationwide event and its fourth year on Outdoor Channel, "Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge" is one of the most popular outdoor events in the country. The reality series highlighted the dramatic journey of 14-outdoor enthusiasts from across the country battling for recognition as the nation's most all-around skilled outdoorsman. The show followed contenders through several rounds of head-to-head challenges that tested their outdoor skills, including fly fishing, bass fishing, rifle, shotgun, endurance, archery, ATV handling, and more.
The dramatic ending of the season came down to a battle between Weatherford and Perdido, Alabama sportsman, Tom Boatwright. The two experienced outdoorsman have both previously competed in and won the event. Over the course of the half-hour finale, Weatherford ultimately bests Boatwright with superior speed, marksmanship and skill during a grueling endurance competition.
Weatherford's sizeable prize package is worth more than $50,000, including a Yamaha Grizzly 4x4 and a custom wrapped Tracker Boat to be delivered in person at his local Bass Pro Shops.
As previously announced, "Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge" expanded this year from a four-part special to 13 half-hour episodes as a result of its growing success and media accolades, offering viewers a more in-depth look at the personalities behind the 14 finalists in the ultimate outdoor competition.
