HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - As the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues their investigation into a fatal hit and run, authorities have confirmed the victim's cause of death.
Rebecca Reaves, a 57-year-old woman from Conway, was found early Saturday on Harper Road by a group of hunters.
Police believed she was a victim of a hit and run, but with no witnesses, police didn't have a lead on what happened to her.
After an autopsy was completed Sunday morning, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler was able to confirm Reaves died from multiple traumas sustained from being struck by vehicle.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Saturday on Harper Road and Highway 701. There are no houses or street lights in the area where she was found. Neighbors from that area were surprised that someone was on that road.
Authorities are still trying to find out who may have struck Reaves. Any information about this hit and run should be reported to your local authorities as soon as possible.
