LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) Florence County School District Three's Board of Trustees recognized two of their long-term members at their final regular board meeting Thursday.
Board members Richard Cook and Bernard McIntosh received plaques in recognition of their service to the school district.
Cook began serving the board of trustees in 1994. While working for Florence County School District Three, Cook took on the role of chairman and most recently served as the board's vice-chair.
Dr. Paul Krohne and John Hughes, executive director and president of the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA), also honored Cook for his service as president to SCSBA in the past year.
McIntosh has served the board since 1997 and served as a board chair during his tenure as a trustee.
Cook and McIntosh say goodbye to the board after November general elections. Dr. Lane N. Floyd, the district's former superintendent who retired in 2000, will acquire Cook's role for the district. The board will welcome Terrie Gaskins-Bryant in McIntosh's position.
Both new members will begin serving after a swearing in at the January 17 board of trustees meeting.
