Tom Rice resigned as Horry County Council Chairman and he now heads to Washington to represent the 7th Congressional District. He did a great job leading Horry County and it will be important to elect someone who has the same vision and focus to take his place.
Consider This: When Tom Rice took office he immediately began focusing on recruiting new jobs to the area, improving our infrastructure and pushing to get I-73 started. He had immediate success by building relationships and bringing groups together.
With the good ole boy system firmly in place, that's more difficult than you might think. It will take a special person to continue that effort.
We've made huge strides over the past two years and a lot of people will want this position. Electing someone to continue the focus on job growth, infrastructure improvement and public safety is critical.
