MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A program is helping dads get involved in their kid's schools.
It's called "Watch D.O.G.S", Dads Of Great Students. Watch DOGS lets dads and other father figures spend a day helping in their child's school.
The men have their picture taken and put on a wall. The Watch DOGS will also have lunch with their student and spend time volunteering in the classes.
One dad, Robert Chenault, says it is especially important now to keep our schools safe.
"In light of the tragedy in Connecticut it's very hard to make sure we have an air tight security. So it's just really important for some of us dads in particular if we have a chance to volunteer just so that there's more eyes out there."
There are now Watch DOGS programs in schools in 42 state around the country. To get your child's school involved in the program, visit the Watch DOGS website.
