Moped driver dies in crash near university

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol's MAIT team is investigating the crash in Florence County that killed a moped driver.

Lance Corporal Sonny Collins says that crash occurred on US 76, or Palmetto Street near Francis MArion University, just after 9 p.m.

The moped driver was traveling east when they were struck from behind by a Toyota. The driver of the moped died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP's Mulit-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
