MBREDC nixes Project Blue

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Project Blue, the jobs deal that would bring new opportunity to Horry County, has been cut from the to-do list of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corp.

During the Horry County Council meeting Tuesday night, Brad Lofton announced that they are no longer pursuing Project Blue.

Lofton said, "After careful consideration, the MBREDC has decided to discontinue working on Project Blue(Covation). A deadline was established by the EDC related to the completion of Project Blue's Fortune 100 client contract and other due diligence items. Since the deadline passed and multiple other prospects are in the pipeline, a decision was made to focus on other projects and free up resources that will assist in locating additional high paying jobs to Horry County."

The MBREDC is meeting again Wednesday to discuss these projects, including Project Volunteer.
