Suspects pry open church door, cut phone lines

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are looking for suspects after finding the door to a church pried open and the phone lines cut.

A man who works for Friendship Baptist Church on Sixth Avenue South reports he walked over to the building around 2:40 a.m. when he heard the audible alarm.

The rear door was open but there was no one inside.

Myrtle Beach Police officers returned to the building around 8:40 a.m. shortly after the man arrived for work and noticed the side door had been pried open.

Wondering why the alarm company had not notified them of the alarm, the man checked the phone lines to find they had been cut.

Nothing in the building appeared to be missing. The man told police he believed the suspects fled when the alarm sounded.

The police reports estimates damage to the church at $200.
