FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The southbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened to traffic after a fatal collision at mile marker 164.
The West Florence Fire Department was on the scene, reporting that at least one of the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 was closed down.
Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the collision occurred around 6:15 a.m. on the ramp merging onto Interstate 95 South from US 52.
Collins explains that the 2003 Hyundai merging onto the interstate colliding with a tractor trailer, killing the driver of the car.
Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews identified the victim as 27-year-old Lisa Mariah McLeod of Alcolu, SC. McLeod died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were wearing seatbelts. The passenger was transported to McLeod Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Driver of tractor trailer was not injured. Collins adds that right now no charges are expected, but the MAIT team is investigating.
