CAROLINA FOREST, SC (WMBF) - One person was shot in the leg from behind by an unknown suspect at an apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesman for the Horry County Police Dept., tells WMBF News that shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Alta Surf Apartment Complex.

In the incident report, the male victim told police he was walking up the steps to his apartment building when a black male approached him with a handgun. After he was shot in the leg, the victim says the man took his wallet and cash and then fled the scene.

A witness to the shooting heard the suspect saying, "I found you," repeatedly. That woman claims she tried to leave the area when she figured out what was going on, but the alleged shooter forced her into the apartment with the victim where she heard him demand the money.

The report states police located illegal drugs inside the victims home when they searched the apartment. The suspected shooter has not been identified.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Horry County Police by calling 915-TIPS.
