MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Downtown Redevelopment Corporation (DRC) is furthering its efforts to bring more business to Myrtle Beach.
There's now a 14 page list of businesses that could be in the beach's future. The list is comprised of businesses the corporations would like to see in underdeveloped areas.
The DRC did the research to see what could fit in Myrtle Beach and what businesses would survive. Some of these businesses already exist in the Grand Strand, like Zaxby's and Bonefish Grill. Others, like Popeye's and Dave and Busters, are ones that are scattered across the region.
In total, 35 businesses made the list, including retail, restaurants and attractions. Lauren Clever, with the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, says they have efforts like this one to keep changing the look of one of the most popular spots in Myrtle Beach.
"We wanna continue that and grow that with new people coming in each and every year," said Clever. "You have to have change. You can't constantly go with the same. It has to evolve."
An important part of putting together the wish list was finding "family friendly" businesses that are already successful in other places.
