Driver in fatal Hwy 501 crash gets $750k bond

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Authorities have identified the man that was behind the wheel of a car that ran a red light in Myrtle Beach, causing an accident that killed his friend.

The driver that fled the scene of the accident has now been identified as 28-year-old Evgeny Pavlovich Bolotov, according to Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Myrtle Beach Police Department reports Bolotov is in custody and he has been charged with reckless homicide and hit and run.

He has been given a $750,000 bond.

A glance at Horry County public records show Bolotov has been in and out of traffic court several times in the past few years, and recently served time for public intoxication.

The passenger in the car he was driving was identified by Horry County Coroner Robert Edge as 26-year-old Sereey Kharlamov of Myrtle Beach.

The accident happened around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning on Highway 501 and Robert Grissom Parkway. Two cars were involved it the wreck, a Nissan and a BMW.

The driver of the Nissan, Bolotov, ran the red light causing the BMW to hit the Nissan on the passenger side where Kharlamov was sitting.

According to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge, Bolotov fled the scene shortly after the crash.

Corporal Kevin Cast with the MBPD said police arrested Bolotov at his home on Brown Pelican Drive Saturday evening.
