Walmart, Salvation Army collects toys and clothes for kids

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Salvation Army and Walmart are getting together this holiday season to give new toys and coats to children in Horry County.

As part of the 122nd Annual Red Kettle Campaign, the "Fill the Truck" toy drive will be hosted at each Walmart location in Horry County and Georgetown on Saturday, Dec. 8.

"I can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciate the support of Wal-Mart and Sam's Club" said Major Bret McElroy, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in Horry County.

"Last year they helped The Salvation Army in Horry County raise $147,000 and more than $46 million nationally. All donations made to the Fill the Truck Toy Drive and the Red Kettle Drive will remain in Horry County and help provide food, clothing, financial assistance and other services to more than 7,000 people this year," McElroy said.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. this Saturday at over 2,500 Walmart stores in America. When you show up, you will receive a list of suggested gifts to help "Fill the Truck" at each store.
