MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The federal government wastes billions of dollars every year on inefficient, ineffective programs. So why does President Obama and his fellow democrats feel that it is necessary to raise taxes when we should work to balance the budget by reducing our spending.
Consider This: The democrats keep saying that the last election was an endorsement that the American people want them to follow through on their plan to increase taxes. I voted in the election, and maybe I overlooked that referendum, but I sure don't remember voting for anything that says I want my taxes increased. Did you?
President Obama picked up a little more than 50% of the vote, but that means nearly 50% of the country voted against him and his plan. For those of us who are not in favor of increased taxes and bigger government, we're fortunate that the U.S. House is controlled by Republicans. Without one party in control we're at least guaranteed debate and negotiation.
These are tough times and no one needs to send more money to the federal government. So before we start raising taxes, let's first cut the bloated out of control programs. Increasing taxes… should be a last resort.
