DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Highway 151 has reopened after a crash between an 18 wheeler and school bus sent 13 people to the hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was working to clear the scene, and reopened the highway nearly an hour and a half after the crash occurred.

Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the SCHP the crash between an 18 wheeler and a school bus occurred Monday afternoon on Highway 151 in front of the Pine Ridge Markette.

The two vehicles collided in the intersection, and Darlington Co. Schools spokeswoman Audrey Childers tells WMBF News the 22 students on board that bus were from West Hartsville and Washington Street Elementary Schools, and the South Side Early Childhood Center.

A total of 12 children were examined at the hospital, and the driver was checked out as well. All the injuries were reported to be minor.

Some of the kids, Childers adds, were taken by their parents to the hospital.

Corp. Sonny Collins says the driver of the truck was ticketed for disregarding a traffic signal.
