GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - Exactly seven months after giving birth to a child, a Georgetown woman is facing charges for being under the influence of drugs during her pregnancy.

Reports show 28-year-old Tommie Jean Kota was admitted to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital in April, and gave birth to a child that tested positive for cocaine.

At that time, the child was taken into emergency protective custody and turned over to the Department of Social Services.

Booking records show Kota was taken into custody at the Georgetown County Detention Center on May 3, and was given a personal recognizance bond of $10,000. She was also given a court date in November to appear on the charge of unlawful neglect of a child.

But court records indicate she didn't show up. Authorities issued a bench warrant for Kota, who was taken back into custody on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Kota has not yet been indicted or sentenced on the unlawful neglect of a child charge.
