Brennan Somers joined the WMBF News team in September 2012 as the weekend evening anchor and weekday video journalist. You can see him reporting for WMBF News in the afternoons during the week and find him anchoring WMBF News at 6 and 11 on the weekends.
Originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, he received his B.A. from the University of Memphis then just recently completed his M.S. in Broadcast/Digital Journalism from Syracuse University. Needless to say, he is happy to live near the beach after spending a long cold winter in upstate New York.
He pursued a career in journalism to become a sports play by play announcer, along the way, he fell in love with general news reporting. Most recently, he was reporting for WAMU News public radio in Washington, DC.
When he's not working, he likes to go running, playing an afternoon 18 at one of the many golf courses in the area, and eating at local restaurants.
The most memorable story he's covered so far is when he traveled to Penn State University to interview students and faculty in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
