He put his spotlight on the car. The driver 29-year-old Candace Smith, of Brunswick, had her head down. When the light hit her, she took off, according to police.

The chase went down Golden Isles Parkway. Police said Smith reached speeds of 100 mph. But it ended when she rearended an ambulance.

The video shows the ambulance skids to the median. The crash killed Smith and her two passengers, both also of Brunswick: 33-year-old Corey Lee Lemon and 33-year-old Cedric Daniels.

The driver of the ambulance was not hurt. A second ambulance employee and a patient received minor injuries from the crash.

Police said none of the three people inside the Corolla were wearing seat belts.

The ambulance is owned by Southside Community Fire Protection of Savannah.
